The road to finals was upon us. Along the way we forged solid friendships and experienced their losses and wins with them as they were eliminated or now going to compete in finals. For me Babe Whimsy took the complete journey with me. She was the first person to reach out to me from day one to be my friend and now we would compete against each other. YIKES!
Decisions! Decisions! What house will I use this time around? I settled on a home from the same builder of my semi-finals entry. Unfortunately, there were permission issues and problems with the mesh itself and the builder was unreachable. After a discussion with the competition liaison I was informed that I could use the same home I'd used before. That is what I decided to do. There would be some aesthetic changes to the home based on comments from the judges during semi-finals and definitely I intended to do a completely different landscape.
The time came for the parcel lottery for the five of us that would be competing in the finals round. As luck would have it I was the only competitor who got the same parcel as I did in the semi-finals round. Needless to say I did NOT react favorably to that news at all. I felt it was unfair, limiting, uninspiring and to be quite honest boring. I even contemplated pulling out of the competition and voiced this to the liaison.
With the decision of whether or not to withdraw from the competition looming over my head, my friend Babe Whimsy swooped in with lots of encouraging pep talks. Throughout this journey we bonded over our shared love of decor, music and family. We were both disappointed that all of my hard work had come to me feeling the need to make this decision to walk away.
Great news!!! A new parcel had become available and I could move to that parcel if I wanted to. Welcome to 7 Park Avenue, The Grove. Here are the before photos. [Not shown is a replica of the 17th century bronze sculpture "Manneken Pis" (the Flemish term for "little pee man") which is located in Brussels.]

I am almost certain I heard Babe Whimsy squeal and clap for joy here in NY from all the way in the UK when I informed her that I would not be withdrawing from the competition. LOL!!! Earlier that day before speaking to her, I was contacted by the liaison and offered a new parcel that had just become available that was on par with the others in the competition. Similar to the last one, this one did not have a lower tier, however it did have a pool already built in. Also, this parcel did not have a driveway. I stood there on the empty lot and saw how I could make it all come together. My inspiration was BACK!
Build week began and I am jumping from sim to sim doing IиF4м0υ$ EиT3RT4Iим3иT work, client builds AND my finals entry. I made some changes to the home, but overall it was the same. My heart and soul was in what I did here and now it was time for me to do the same with the landscaping. I couldn't be more proud of the finished product. In fact I loved it more here than I did during the semi-finals round. It was the small details that tugged at my heartstrings.
